Rob Heyns
Master of ceremonies
League of Beers Rob Heyns founded League of Beers in 2012 as a way to bring crafters and drinkers of quality beer closer together. Since then, and after joining forces with Yuppiechef in 2013, League of Beers has shared the stories and flavours of craft with over 200 000 foodies and beer fans across South Africa.
Alexander Brand
Blefa Alexander Brand is the CEO of Blefa, one of the world´s leading suppliers of stainless steel kegs. He joined the German keg manufacturer in 2004 as Global Sales and Marketing Director and took over the reins as CEO in 2009. Since then his passion about high-quality products made in Germany and his aspiration to make every customer requirement possible earned him a reputation as a well-known and trusted partner within the brewing industry.
Bjoern Graser
Dematech Bjoern is the Managing director of Dematech Kenya and has had 18 years in the beverage industry. He has a wealth of knowledge particularly in the African brewing sector and deals with various breweries across Kenya and Africa. He is a hardworking, result oriented driven yet fun loving person. He loves swimming, camping and bush safari's. He is also a bonafide Brew Master and grows the craft brewing industry in Kenya

Anton Paar Local technical representative for Anton Paar Southern Africa. I am a chemist, with a strong focus on process optimization and quality control.
Eben Uys
Mad Giant I was introduced to brewing through the SAB varsity brewing program in 2006 as a final year chemical engineering student at Stellenbosch University. I joined the CBC team as project manager in 2012. Unfortunately I had to leave to meet my bursary obligations at Sasol. While at Sasol in Secunda I started Mad Giant with my friend Graham. I’m happy to say that we have a great team with loads more patience than me, brewing great beers.
Garrett Oliver
The Brooklyn Brewery Garrett Oliver is the brewmaster of The Brooklyn Brewery, editor-in-chief of The Oxford Companion to Beer, author of The Brewmaster’s Table, and one of the foremost authorities in the world on the subject of beer. Many of his beers have won national and international awards. He has served as a judge for the competition of the Great American Beer Festival for twenty-one years, and has been a perennial judge for the prestigious Great British Beer Festival competition and The Brewing Industry International Awards.
Karl
Beer Country In 2014, Karl traded writing insurance ads for a cold brew and a pair of tongs and set off to film Beer Country - South Africa’s first TV show dedicated to beer, food and fire. Since then he’s established himself as a recipe developer, food and beer writer, and social media content producer. Together with his brother-in-law Greg, he’s launched Karoo Dust braai spice and the multi-award winning collaboration beer, Moerkoffie Condensed Milk Stout.
Greg
Beer Country After ten years of running his industrial design business, Greg decided he preferred sitting around a fire than at a desk. He packed it in and made his love for beer and braai the new mission. Together with his brother-in-law, Karl they produced Beer Country and whatever cool sounding credentials Karl listed in his bio, Greg has those too. He believes that there’s no such thing as too much fire, and that craft beer is love in a bottle.
JC Steyn
Devils Peak After completing a four year degree in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch, I landed my first job at Signal Hill Wines. I then landed the position of head winemaker at Dornier Wines in Stellenbosch. In my seventh year I came across a group of passionate guys that wanted to launch exciting ales into the SA beer drinking domain. Now in our seventh year we have grown by over 100 times while still constantly pushing the boundaries.
Long Guo
Pelliconi Long is the Sales Manager with Pelliconi since 2015.He used to be Key Account Manager for Carlsberg China and recently moved to company’s innovation division for DAPP (Digital Application Platform for Packaging) project which aims to provide a digital solution for brands to engage their consumers with latest technologies.
Lucy Corne
The Brewmistress Lucy Corne is a beer writer and educator. Her popular blog, The Brewmistress, documents the South African beer scene and she has also penned two books on South African beer: African Brew and Beer Safari. Lucy is the editor of On Tap, South Africa’s only beer magazine, and contributes to beer publications around the world. She is an experienced BJCP judge, Africa’s first certified Cicerone® and the co-founder of the African Beer Cup.
Stefan Wiswedel
Little Wolf Brewery Born and raised in Cape Town, trained as a botanist, passionate about nature, and inspired by great beer. As the founder of Little Wolf Brewery, my dream is to create complex, previously unknown drinks for South Africans to enjoy."
Stéphane Meulemans
Fermentis Stéphane graduated from the University of Louvain as a Chemical Engineer specialized in Food Science. Following an additional MBA completed at the K.U. Leuven, he started as process engineer at the Alken-Maes Brewery in Belgium. In 1994, he joined the Food Science Department of Pfizer. From 1997 until 2013, he developed Global Sales of hops for Yakima Chief, Inc. From 2005 together with a partner, he started up and developed Brasserie de Jandrain-Jandrenouille. In 2014, he joined the Group Lesaffre as GM of the Business Unit Fermentis.
Theo Louw
Darling Brew Theo Louw currently looks after the technical department within Darling Brewery regionally. As Darling Brews first employee starting in 2011, he has really found his passion and enjoy working within the industry and meeting new people.
Ross McCulloch
Jack Black Beer Prior to Jack Black, Ross developed his knowledge of the liquor industry as a senior sales executive in Canada with the largest independent wine group in the USA. Ross attended various brewing courses, including brewing studies at University of California (Davis) and has an intimate knowledge of the global craft beer market. He holds a degree in Retail Business Management. Ross grew up in Cape Town. When he’s not at the brewery, you’ll find him surfing, travelling and with his wife and Co-Founder, Meghan, and their two kids.
Nick Bush
Drifter Brewing Before opening Drifter, Nick graduated from UCT with a BSc in mechanical engineering. He then worked as a scuba instructor and boat captain all over the world until finding his passion of brewing beer while living in Portland, Oregon. He's always had a keen interest in entrepreneurship and loves tackling each challenge that comes with running a business. When he's not deep in the throes of Drifter, you can find him out hiking, sailing, paragliding and most recently learning Spanish for another upcoming brewing project in Central America!
Murray Slater
Fermented Murray is a foot soldier in the great beer revolution. Bachelor of Journalism (BJourn Rhodes), Qualified beer Judge, magazine columnist and contributor (Imbibe Uk, OnTap Magazine SA),Digital story teller, ( beerwhisperer.co.za & The Mash Tun Podcast). Community builder and founder of fermented.co.za Once drank beer for refreshment and then flavour complexity, now both.
Tom Riley
Tiny Keg Tom has spent most of his adult life falling further in love with beer. After a few years with SABMiller he decided he needed more excitement in his life, so he partnered up with Rob Heyns to start Tiny Keg: the first mobile canning provider in South Africa. Tom has a degree in Industrial Engineering from Stellenbosch University, and an MBA from IE Business School in Madrid. He is a sucker for punishment and a lover of hops.
Nenad Horvat
Oprema Nenad Horvat is the Head of R&D Department and has a Master of Mechanical Engineering. He started working at Oprema in 2004. Some of the projects that he worked on is project manager: Energy saving for a beer cooler. Experttreffen Freising, New trends in beer coolers. He likes cycling and travel.
Chintu Patel
Crafty Dee's A creative spirit, enthusiastic brand builder, natural community developer, and the first (award-winning) craft beer maker in Tanzania :)
Uros Zorn
SKRLJUros has been a manager of the wine & beer department at ŠKRLJ since 2010. Born and raised in Paris, he moved to Slovenia in 1995 and finished high school degree. In 2004 he graduated at the faculty of agronomy in Ljubljana (Slovenia), specializing in viticulture & oenology. After his graduation, he followed an MBA in wine business completed in Trieste (Italy) in 2006. During this time he worked as an export manager in wine estates in Slovenia and Italy. In 2008, he joined the faculty of viticulture and Oenology in Nova Gorica as an assistant professor for wine promotion and international wine marketing. He loves tasting wines and discovering beers
